Define these words from the text:

  • Convoys- Convoys is a group of army vehicles traveling in a line

  • Neutral-Neutral is a country or a person who is not involved or not on any side.

  • France- France is a country that was put into slavery from germany

  • Courier-A company

  • Gestapo- Is a secret police force

  • Occupied-Means being used from someone

  • Resistance- A group of people that fight back

Explain these phrases we learnt from our discussions 

  • “Bounty on your head” means when someone will pay someone to kill you

  • Espionage - Secret spies

  • Morse code- is a machine 

  • “I’m Switzerland” when you don’t want to be in a fight

  • Brazil- is a country that is good in soccer

  • Freedom fighter - A freedom fighter is someone that fights for freedom

  1. Write everything you know about Hitler, Jewish people and WW2 in your own words.
    First Hitler was a very bad person from germany. He Killed lots of innocent people like jewish people. In world war 2 he killed lots of france people and ruled over it.

  2. Create a profile of The White Mouse using Google Drawings. Include her picture, birth and death date, details about her ashes, and a paragraph about why she is famous. 

  3. Make a timeline of how WW2 started - include dates, locations, maps etc.

  4. On a map, find Normandy. Make a connection to other places in France you have learnt about before/heard of before and write 1-2 sentences of what you know about each one.


  5. Explain the role radios played in the resistance. (what they did, who had them, how did they work?)

  6. There are other famous female heroes who helped downed airmen escape, by helping them over the mountains to Spain. Research this using Google, use a map/images to help you understand how dangerous this journey really was.6

  7. How much is five million francs? (in the 1940’s).$8,283,843.96

  8. Explain what D-Day is. D-Day means an important war or a massive invasion.
    D-day was a huge invasion in Normandy france on June 6, 1944, where american soldiers and other allied soldiers fought to end World War 2. 

  9. How did The White Mouse help the Allies win the war? She helped them by exploding trains with German soldiers and by killing multiple germans with her bare hands. 

  10. Research the medals people could earn in WW2 (especially NZ soldiers). What did you have to do to get each one?  First is the medal of honour, to get this medal you have to risk your life. 2nd is the Atlantis star, You have to earn the star of honour for 6 months. 3rd is the Air crew star, You have to serve the air crew for four months. 4rth is the Arctic star, you have to serve in the north arctic circle. 5th is the Africa star was awarded for a minimum of one day's service in an operational area of North Africa between 10 June 1940 and 12 May 1943.
