  1. Malo e lelei Wesley,

My name is Rachel and I am working with Sophie, Patricia, Lee and Izzy on the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. It is wonderful to see that you have joined us this summer!

I love that you have taken the time to answer the question about your hotel and to provide us with a picture. I think that I can see a person lying in a bed in your photo. Is that right? What else does the person have in their hotel room? Will they have a heater to keep them warm in the snow?

I actually grew up in Canada and when I was younger it used to snow a lot every winter. In fact, sometimes it snowed so much that school was cancelled because the buses and cars weren't able to drive over the heavy snow. I used to love 'snow days' because my sister and I could stay home and build forts in the snow in our backyard. One year we built a huge snowfort. It was so big that my sister, my dad and I were all able to crawl into it and lie down. Have you ever been inside a real snow fort before? I hope that you get the chance to try it one day. It is so much fun to build (and a lot warmer inside than you might think)!

I hope that you will continue to blog with us over the summer, Wesley. We'd love to share our learning about New Zealand and the world around us with you!

Hope to see you online again soon,

    Rachel :)
